Battle Creek Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash

A 34-year-old Battle Creek man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, at approximately 6:35 PM, Saturday evening.

Richard E. Winner Jr. was traveling on his 2007 Harley-Davidson, eastbound on Dickman Road and one-half mile east of Base Avenue, when he failed to negotiate a curve and went into a ditch. He suffered serious trauma to his head and both lower extremities. He was not wearing a helmet.

An investigation by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies indicates that speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

Winner was transported to Bronson Kalamazoo for treatment.
