Parents In Kalamazoo Frustrated By Last-minute School Closures
There are many parents out there who are unhappy with the way that schools in Southwest Michigan have been relating information on school closings to the parents.
I think it’s a pretty logical thing, that when you have parents that work, that they be given enough heads up to be told whether another is going to be school so they have time to coordinate with their jobs and work on arrangements so that they can either work from home, their kids have a place to stay or any other arrangement to make things work.

However, last week when Kalamazoo Public Schools announced between 5 and 6 AM that there will be no school, one parent in particular took to Facebook to express how unhappy they were with the amount of time it took to let her know:
Kalamazoo Public Schools , y’all really need to start posting earlier. It’s frustrating finding out there’s no school at the last minute in the morning. What about parents who work? There’s no wiggle room to make arrangements. I drove half way to school two days ago just to found out there wasn't any school. Its very frustrating.
So the real question is what do parents do in this situation?
How are they supposed to juggle a job and plan babysitting arrangement when they are literally given an hours notice?
It seems like the school system not only in Kalamazoo but everywhere in Michigan for that matter needs to come up with a better idea to better plan for school days instead of waiting till the 11th hour.
