Albion Man Headed To Trial For Murder Charges
An Albion man is now headed to trial in a murder case from earlier this year.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that attorneys for 52-year-old James Nelson waived a preliminary examination Wednesday, sending the case to Calhoun County Circuit Court.
Prosecutors say that Nelson shot and killed 58-year-old Ernest Embry in April, in the 100 block of Pine St. in Albion. Witness testimony points to the shooting occurring after an argument over a small debt.
Murder charges might be dropped, however; prosecutors might offer Nelson the chance to plead guilty to charges of manslaughter and using a firearm to commit a felony instead.
