Battle Creek Man To Stand Trial For Killing His Dog
A 54-year-old Battle Creek man accused of killing a dog that became aggressive will stand trial on two counts.
David Hursley was arrested in February after officers were called to his home to investigate a shooting. Investigators believe that Hursley’s dog had bitten another man and was injured after getting hit by a bat and a pellet from a pellet gun.
The dog’s injuries were severe enough to have the animal put down by authorities. Hursley faces a felony charge of killing or torturing an animal and a misdemeanor cruelty to animals count.
A trial date has not been set.
