Kia has one of the most mixed carbon footprints you can find on the internet. Half of it is about how amazing their cars are, their affordability, and their safety features but the other half is about how easy they are to steal and a number of recalls. At this point, I don't know whether to consider Kia to be a good or bad car company.

I do know that I considered myself to be the Recall Ranger as I'm always see them coming across my desk. I would argue that car recalls are among the worst in the country because we already spend so much money purchasing and maintaining a vehicle and it's a 2,000+ pound machine that could cause harm or death. The last thing we want to hear is that something isn't right with our car.

Those are always scary words to thing or utter but it's worse when it's something that you have to pay for yourself.  Although, it can be extremely frustrating when there's something wrong with your car because of a negligence from the manufacturer. That's what thousands of Kia owners in Michigan are dealing with now as there is an issue with their fuel tanks.

Are You A Kia Driver? Have You Been Dealing With Fuel Tank Issues?

Whio.com reports:

Kia America is recalling more than 250,000 vehicles in the United States because of a fuel tank issue, according to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Thursday. The agency said that the 250,547 Kia K5 vehicles recalled include 2021-2024 models. According to the NHTSA’s notice, “a damaged check valve can allow air to enter the fuel tank, causing it to expand and contact hot exhaust components, melting the tank.”

Do you know how heated I would be if I would out my fuel tank had a leak? Not only is my car more likely to catch on fire or blow up but I'm also paying for gas that I'm not even using. I call that a huge waste of money and a risk of my life, I'll pass on that. Owners that are in risk will be notified in January; Kia will do inspections and replace any damaged valves or fuel tanks free of charge.
